It’s always thrilling when the art of design meets the science of engineering, especially so when the marriage is based on cutting edge innovation and stylistic sophistication as is the case with the 48 Wallytender, a remarkable day cruiser from the iconic Monegasque luxury yacht brand. Last year Wally was acquired by Ferretti Group, the most successful conglomerate of the yachting industry, so the sleek, state-of-the-art runabout not only masterfully combines superb performance, comfort and style with the latest innovations in yacht design, but also signals a new and exciting chapter in the yacht maker’s illustrious history. After its international debut last September at the Cannes Yachting Festival as well as at the most important autumn boat shows, the 48 Wallytender is sure to make a splash at the Boot Düsseldorf (January 18th to 26th), showcased in a riveting gunpowder metallic colour, and the upcoming Miami Yacht Show in February where its high-performance outboard sister model will be launched.

Founded in 1994 by Italian entrepreneur and life-long sailor Luca Bassani, Wally has been at the forefront of luxury yachting design ever since by bringing together a mind for technological innovation and an eye for stylistic fineness.With form following function down to the finest detail, what makes Wally’s yachts truly stand out however is that their every detail echoes their overall aesthetic refinement. Powered by Bassani’s creative vision, Wally’s long list of innovations have not only become brand hallmarks but have also profoundly influenced the entire yachting industry. The list includes the introduction of carbon fibre construction, the extensive use of structural glass, the design of the “beach club” which was conceived by Bassani as a terraced aft deck bringing guests closer to the sea, and the simplification of sailing systems with concepts such as fully automatic sail trimming which means that even the largest yachts can be handled single-handedly. Supported by the industrial, organisational and commercial capabilities of Ferretti Group, Wally’s ingenuity in devising ground-breaking solutions is surely going to intensify.
